Guests near Lancaster can visit the gravesite of Pennsylvania's
only U.S. president. James Buchanan, the 15th president, was born,
raised and died in Central Pennsylvania. In addition to leading
the nation, Buchanan was a U.S. Congressman, Secretary of State,
and foreign diplomat to Russia and Great Britain. After his political
life, Buchanan retired in Pennsylvania and died in 1868. He is buried
at Woodward Hill Cemetery in Lancaster.
